Environment

A large proportion of DataSpace’s business derives from the storage and destruction of paper documentation. The Directors, Managers and the entire DataSpace team feel responsible to support the environment, and our duty to give something back.

DataSpace are formally certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI) for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems (EMS). This certification is evidence that DataSpace’s Environmental Management System considers all business operational aspects and their impact on the environment including procurement, selection of suppliers, energy consumption and product selection.  Certification is awarded from successful audit of compliance against the ISO 14001 standards requirements by an BSI Auditor.

Aspects of ISO 14001:2015 include:-

  • Implementation and Maintenance of an Environmental Management System
  • True and Representative Environment Policy
  • Action and Plan to Improve the performance of the Environment Management System

ISO 14001:2015 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organisation can follow to set up an effective environmental management system.

In light of the above, DataSpace have adopted and introduced technologies and internal procedures to reduce the business’s direct impact on the environment.

Our systems such as e-docs and FileLive immediately reduce the necessity to have the original file delivered back to the office by a delivery vehicle. Simply the system allows you to view file location history and the digital image of the document, but keeps the integrity of the original paper format in one of our PD 5454:2012 approved facilities, thus reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

The delivery fleet are fitted with the latest Euro emission engines; oils are recycled and any parts where possible are exchangeable through the dealer networks.

DataSpace understand that although paper is a very important part of how we organise ourselves in todays business environment; we can at least try to improve and develop, and advise our clients to adopt and create paper light technologies to help protect our future.

Additionally, DataSpace supports the World Land Trust, whom over the past 12 years have helped purchase and protect more than 300,000 acres of tropical forest and other critically threatened land through its pioneering projects worldwide (including in Belize, Patagonia, Ecuador and the Philippines).
