What is a Data Controller?

A person, business or organisation that is responsible for recording, keeping and processing the personal information in a physical or electronic format. Data Controllers have serious legal responsibilities to ensure compliance with Data Protection and Information Governance laws.

Is DataSpace UK Ltd a Data Controller?

DataSpace UK Ltd is a registered Data Controller with the ICO, registration number Z2690087.  We create, store and process data for example information relating to our employees, including forms for DBS checks, previous employment and home addresses.ICO

However, it is important to note that DataSpace do not act as Data Controller for the information we store and process for our clients.  Legally the data and documents we store and scan for our clients is wholly owned by the client, therefore they are the Data Controller to ensure compliance to the Data Protection Act 1998.
